"GI cancers Scientific Group" is a research group of the Research Center for Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases (RCGLD) of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) in Tehran , Iran .

Our scientific group is devoted to performing basic,clinical and translational research in GI oncology and our investigators have focused on both laboratory and clinical fields in this regard.

We are interested in clinicoepidemiological aspects of GI cancers research including diagnosis, prognosis, etiopathogenesis and treatment. We also design research projects to illuminate important details of molecular pathogenesis of GI cancers , discover more about epidemiology of these common cancers and utilize all our findings to share with other scientists to improve GI cancers diagnosis, treatment and prognosis all over the world.

The main areas of research in our group are:

• Establishing a biobank of GI cancers in Iran.
• Molecular Epidemiological studies on Colorectal and gastric Cancer in Iran.
• Evaluating the role of SNPs in sporadic colorectal and gastric Cancer.
• Evaluating the role of new “biomarkers” in early diagnosis of GI Cancers.
• Evaluating the Hereditary Colorectal and Gastric Cancer in Iran .
