The Health Informatics group of Research Center for Gastroenterology and Liver Disease (RCGLD) was established in 2004. The goals and missions of this group includes:

• Investigating health informatics and epidemiological/health economics aspects of gastrointestinal diseases in Iranian patients leading to international publications
• Health Informatics support of RCGLD research projects
• Bioinformatics support of RCGLD lab projects
• Developing web-based patient education systems dedicated to GI patients to cultivate their use among Iranian patients
• Development and maintenance of RCGLD web-based projects
• Departmental capacity-building through continual education
